FAQs

Can we visit Pre-School?

All families are welcome to come and look around the Pre-School and meet the staff. Please telephone to arrange a convenient time to visit.

Prior to your child starting Pre-School we will hold an open afternoon, both you and your child will be invited to attend a session to visit the classroom together before they start officially. This is a time for you and your child to find out what is on offer and to get used to the surroundings. It is also an opportunity to meet other parents and children who will be starting at the same time.

How many children can attend each session?

2 year olds We have a maximum of 12 children and 3 adults per session in the Rainbow Room

3 & 4 year olds We have a maximum of 24 children and 4 adults per session in the Star Room.

Is there a waiting list?

Due to a high demand for places we do operate a waiting list.

If you would like to put your child on the waiting list please speak to a member of staff. You can do this by visiting the Pre-School, telephoning or e-mailing Sonja. Children can be placed on the waiting list as soon as they are born.

The details required to put your child on the waiting list are: -

- Child's name

- Child's date of birth

- A contact telephone number and home address

If you would like to see our Waiting List Policy please speak to a member of staff.

Does my child need to wear a uniform to Pre-School

Uniform is not compulsory. However, we do have a range of quality polo shirts and sweatshirts with the Clackclose Pre-School logo on available to buy (jumpers £10.00 / polo shirts £8.50).

Children attending Clackclose Pre-school should wear clothing that they can manage by themselves and that can be easily washed. We recommend jogging bottoms/leggings/shorts in any colour for all children. Lots of the activities are messy/wet/muddy and toilet accidents can happen, so all children need to bring a complete change of clothes to each session. This should be kept in a named bag on their peg. We use the outside play space as much as possible, regardless of the weather, so all children should have coats/jackets with them everyday and wellies if necessary. In the summer please apply sun screen before school and provide a sun hat to wear. If you have given your permission and sun screen is provided we can apply it to your child.

ALL CLOTHING AND FOOTWEAR MUST BE LABELLED WITH THE CHILD'S NAME.

Does my child have to be toilet trained before starting Pre-School?

No. Please ensure that nappies and wipes are supplied in the child's bag.

What if my child doesn't settle?

Most children settle very happily into the routine but others take some time. If your child is distressed in any way, please feel free to stay for as long as it takes for both of you to feel confident about being separated. Please do not slip out without telling your child, or us, that you are going. The staff will work with you to find the best possible solution for you and your child.

My child has special needs. Can he/she attend Clackclose Pre-School?

Yes! If your child has, or is found to have, additional medical, behavioural or educational needs, we will work closely with you as parents, the health authority and the Norfolk Special Education Team to address and meet those needs as best we can. If you have any concerns or worries about your child in this respect, please speak to the supervisor in confidence. You may wish to read our SEN Policy or speak to our SENCO, Sara Lewis-Bragg.
